Mentor & Match Corporation is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, and strives to provide a safe, secure user experience.

This Privacy Statement sets forth the online data collection and usage policies and practices that apply to this website, its associated community sites, and the Mentor & Match Connect mobile application (collectively the “Sites”) This privacy policy does not apply to any third-party websites, service or applications, even if they are accessible through the Sites.

Any information that is collected via our Site is covered by the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected.

Information Collected or Received from You

Our primary goals in collecting information are to provide and improve the Sites, to administer your use of the Sites, to enable you to enjoy and easily navigate the Sites, to respond to your inquiries submitted via the Sites, and to periodically send you free newsletters and emails that directly promote our Sites and our services in response to your request. To achieve these goals, we may collect information that is related to you as an identified or identifiable person (hereinafter “Personal Information” or “PI”).

We use this information for the purposes of providing our services, responding to any queries you may have, operating and improving the web site, fostering a positive user experience and delivering the products and services that we offer.

As a result of the information that we collect about you, we are able to provide you with personalized product suggestions, content, and advertising relating to your interests.

The information we gathered on any Mentor & Match web site may be shared within Mentor & Match on a worldwide basis in order to deliver these products and services.

Contact Information: Depending on how you choose to use the Sites, you may provide us with contact information such as your: name, physical address, email address, or telephone number.

Device Information: Depending on how you access the site, we may collect information regarding the type of device on which the Sites are used or downloaded, the operating system name and version of the device used to access the Sites, device manufacturer, application version accessed on your device, device ID, IP address, and geolocation data.

Information about third parties: Examples includes references or contacts that you provide to us if you have their express written consent to do so.

Demographic Information: We may collect certain information about population characteristics from you. This information includes your zip code or postal code, age, preferences, gender, race or ethnicity, occupation, career history, interests and favorites. We do not consider this information to be PI given that it will be deidentified and anonymized such that it cannot be linked to you as an individual.

Inferential Information: We may use information you provide to make certain inferences. For example, if you provide a title of ‘Ms.’ we will assume you are female.

Information Collected Using Cookies and other Web Technologies. Like many website owners and operators, we use automated data collection tools such as Cookies and Web Beacons to collect certain information.

“Cookies” are small text files that are placed on your hard drive by a Web server when you access our Site.

We may use both session Cookies and persistent Cookies to identify that you’ve logged in to the Site and to tell us how and when you interact with our Site.

We will not share any PI that we have collected from or about you with any third party except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information Shared in Order to Provide our Services

The nature of some of the services we offer is such that third parties may be able to view your Personal Information and contact you. For example, profile information may be used for networking with other community members or may be visible to employers who are using the Mentor & Match website. In addition, portions of your searchable resume (but not your contact information) may be made public in your networking profile. Likewise, we may supply your contact information to select third parties such as employers, recruiters, data aggregators, marketers or others for the purpose of sending you email or otherwise communicating with you.

Information Shared with Our Service Providers

We may engage third-party services providers to work with us to administer and provide the Site and to respond to your Requests. These third-party services providers have access to your PI only for the purpose of performing services on our behalf. Examples include hosting our web servers, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, processing credit card payments, and providing customer service. These companies and individuals may be located in a country whose data protection legislation is different from your country, and they will have access to your Personal Information as necessary to perform their functions, but they may not share that PI with any other third party or use that data for any other purpose.

Information Disclosed in Connection with Business Transactions

Information that we collect from our users, including PI, is considered to be a business asset. Thus, if we are acquired by a third party as a result of a transaction such as a merger, acquisition or asset sale or if our assets are acquired by a third party in the event we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, some or all of our assets, including your PI, may be disclosed or transferred to a third-party acquirer in connection with the transaction.

Information Disclosed in an Aggregated or Anonymized Manner We also share aggregated anonymous information about visitors to the Sites with Mentor & Match clients, partners, other site visitors, and other third parties so that they can understand the kinds of visitors to the sites and how those visitors use the sites in order to serve advertisements to you on our sites or other sites with which we have a business relationship.

International Transfer

Your PI may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your jurisdiction. If you’re located outside the United States and choose to provide your PI to us, we may transfer your PI to the United States and process it there.

Your Choices About Your Information

We offer you choice regarding the collection, use, and sharing of your PI and we respect the decisions that you make. Please note that prior to responding to your requests pursuant to your choices below, we reserve the right to verify and authenticate your identity and the PI to which you have requested access.

Your privacy is important to us and to demonstrate our commitment, we do our best to honor requests to access, correct, update, or delete your PI. Please note, however, that to the extent that your request would violate another person’s rights and/or as otherwise permitted by applicable law, Mentor & Match may deny the request.

If you wish to delete or close your account or account profile information altogether, please contact us. An email will be sent to you to confirm that your Personal Information has been deleted (save for an archival copy which is not accessible by you or third parties on the Internet).

Please note that in the event that you decide to delete your data, we may retain an archival copy only for as long as Mentor & Match reasonably considers necessary for audit and record purposes.

Important Information (Security)

Mentor & Match Corporation takes reasonable administrative, physical and electronic measures to safeguard your Personal Information from unauthorized access or inappropriate use by third parties. Please be aware, however, that no method of transmitting and storing information over the internet is completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information and you should ensure that you do not post sensitive information, including personality profiles, to the Mentor & Match site.

Moreover, one of our primary purposes is to provide you with a platform to broadcast the information in your resume and profile widely in order to maximize your academic opportunities. Such an environment does present a risk that unauthorized third parties will view this data. Thus, you should take care to ensure that your resume does not contain any sensitive data that you would not want made public.

Our Policy Toward Children

Our Site is not directed to children under 17 and we do not knowingly collect PI from children under 17. If we learn that we have collected PI of a child under 17 we will take steps to delete such information from our files as soon as possible.

Your Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Rights

As part of the its services Mentor & Match Corporation provides an access point for students (mentees) to speak privately with members of college (mentors). Mentor & Match Corporation takes student information protection very seriously. Notwithstanding the rest of this Privacy Policy, no one will have access to, nor will we disclose any information from, a student educational record without the written consent of the student

The one exception to this policy is that we may disclose such information to authorized representatives of the federal and state governments for audit and evaluation of federal and state supported programs, or other provisions outlined by the FERPA document :http://www2.ed.gov/policy/gen/reg/ferpa/index.html

As detailed above, our mentor networking platform is developed with security in mind. We encrypt and secure all files hosted. All Mentor & Match server certificates are signed by a recognized Certificate authority (DigiCert) and we use 256-bit SSL encryption for all web communication. All communication amongst the database, application, and authentication servers is also conducted via secure connections.

Scope of this Privacy Notice

This privacy notice describes the Personal Information we collect or process about California residents in connection with our Site, how we use, share, and protect that Personal Information, and what your rights are concerning Personal Information that we collect or process.

We will respond to verifiable requests for disclosure or deletion of Personal Information free of charge, within 10 days of receipt.

In order to protect your privacy and the security of your information, we verify consumer requests by personally contacting the requestor. Any additional information you provide will be used only to verify your identity and not for any other purpose.

You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf. You must provide an authorized agent written permission to submit a request on your behalf, and we may require that you verify your identity directly with us. Alternatively, an authorized agent that has been provided power of attorney under Probate Code sections 4000-4465 may submit a request on your behalf.

Right to Opt Out of Sales of Your Personal Information

You have a right to opt-out of the sale of your Personal Information. You may, at any time, direct businesses that sell your Personal Information to third parties not to sell your Personal Information.

We do not sell your Personal Information and therefore do not provide any mechanism for you to exercise the right to opt out.
